Bio/ Jalessah T. Jackson
Jalessah T. Jackson is a Black feminist movement leader, educator, strategic consultant, and healing practitioner based in Atlanta, Georgia who has dedicated over a decade to justice-centered transformation across nonprofit, academic, and grassroots spaces. Through their practice, Practice Liberation LLC, they weave together liberatory frameworks and co-creative methodologies to support organizational learning, leadership development, and sustainable systems change.
As Founder of the Decolonial Feminist Collective since 2020, Jalessah has built an organization that utilizes decolonial and Black feminist frameworks in political and popular education, mutual aid, and international solidarity building. Their vision has manifested in strategic public programming—collective study circles, educational teach-ins, and keynote lectures—that advances political consciousness and strengthens movement cohesion. The Collective's programming has drawn transnational participation, engaging hundreds of feminists annually across diverse global contexts.
In their former role as Interim Executive Director of Access Reproductive Care Southeast (ARC-Southeast), they exemplified visionary leadership rooted in revolutionary care and unwavering integrity. Under their leadership, the health line provided over $1.3 million in direct funding to callers. Their earlier organizing and advocacy work includes serving as Director of Community Engagement at the Feminist Center for Reproductive Liberation and Georgia Coordinator for SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective, where they spearheaded statewide reproductive justice organizing focused on building power through leadership development, coalition-building, and policy advocacy. Jalessah's leadership has included advisory roles with organizations such as the Amplify GA Collaborative and serving as Secretary on the Executive Board of WGS South (formerly Southeastern Women's Studies Association).
Bringing this same commitment to justice into the classroom, Jalessah has taught courses at institutions including CUNY Graduate Center, Morehouse College, and Kennesaw State University, covering topics from community organizing and health justice to Black Studies and Gender and Sexuality Studies. They hold a Master of Arts in Gender and Cultural Studies from Simmons University and a Bachelor of Arts in African and African Diaspora Studies from Kennesaw State University.
Jalessah is a sought-after speaker and workshop facilitator, having presented at conferences and institutions nationwide. They have been featured and quoted in Elle, The Hollywood Reporter, and the Associated Press. Beyond their public advocacy, Jalessah also provides spiritual guidance and healing support to their community asan initiated priest in the Abeokuta lineage of the Ifa-Òrìṣà religious tradition, where they are known as Ọ̀ṣúnkẹ́mi.
When they are not working, Jalessah enjoys leisure reading, trying new recipes, and spending quality time with their two children.
